Aiden is gay

The December 20 episode of General Hospital included one of the loveliest scenes we’ve seen in ages. (Read the complete recap here.) As Elizabeth worked on Christmas Eve dinner in the kitchen, she wondered aloud whether Aiden, her son with former husband Lucky, might be feeling a petite left out because both of his brothers contain girlfriends this holiday season.

Turned out, there was someone that Aiden liked, too. “They’re in my science class,” he began, using the “they” that members of the LGTQ+ collective often do when unsure whether they feel trustworthy to be their real selves. “They’re really clever. We got to converse about how there’s a lot of science in baking. They asked me to do some demonstrations for the science club.”

“So that’s what you’ve been doing after school,” Liz replied. “Well, they sound really nice.”

Such a nice, subtle touch to contain Mom pick up on Aiden’s use of “they.” Perhaps he noticed it, too, because he then worked up the courage to tell her, “His name is Tobias.”
