Olympian Caroline Burckle Accuses Bob Bowman, Sean Hutchison for Sending “Sexually Graphic Texts” – Bowman Confirms Apology
2008 Olympian Caroline Burcklehas spoken out about an incident in 2011, where she states that she received aggressive communicate messages from coaches Bob Bowman and Sean Hutchison.
Burckle swam for Hutchison from 2009 till her retirement at FAST in California. Hutchison is also currently being sued by another former Olympian, Ariana Kukors, for sexual abuse and grooming.
According to The Orange County Register, Burckle was at her Los Angeles dwelling on May 16, 2011 when she began receiving “a series of sexually graphic text messages and a voice mail on her phone.” The messages allegedly came from a phone that belonged to Bowman.
“They were so aggressive…I was disgusted. I felt violated, felt sad too. This was a sport that I had just left and loved and so I felt very sad.”
“I was a 24-year-old female swimmer who had retired way too new but was sick of all the (garbage). I wanted to change lives and do alternative things but felt trapped.”

The sexually graphic text messages began popping up on the phone of recently retired swimmer Caroline Burckle, a 2008 Olympic bronze medalist, when she was dwelling in the Los Angeles area on a May evening in 2011.
“They were so aggressive,” Burckle said last week to the Orange County Register, which broke the story.
“I was a 24-year-old female swimmer who had retired way too young but was sick of all the (garbage),” she said. “I wanted to change lives and do different things but felt trapped.”

Text messages from the mobile of Olympic swimming coach Bob Bowman, the man who guided Michael Phelps throughout his famous career, detail an inappropriate sexual exchange in May 2011 with a recently retired Olympic bronze medalist who became increasingly concerned about what Bowman and fellow coach Sean Hutchison were sending her.
“Sean wants you. I crave your brother!!” one text from Bowman’s phone reads, according to text messages obtained by the Arizona Republic, which is part of the USA TODAY Network. The Arizona Republic received the messages as part of a public records request from Arizona State University, where Bowman is head swimming coach.
“This is gross, who is this?” was the reply moments later from Caroline Burckle, the then-24-year-old swimmer who reported the incident and forwarded the texts and a voicemail to USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport. Burckle’s brother is Clark Burckle, who was competing in the sport at the time and went on to become a member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team. Bowman was on the coaching staff of that team.
