1 direction is gay

LatelyI'vebeen thinking about One Route a lot more than usual, which used to be almost never. Don't ring the alarm. No impure thoughts have been creeping into my leader, nor has the teen band's music been stuck there. I still couldn't sing an entire line from any of their songs if my middle-aged life depended on it.

What I've been dwelling on mentally has been what the boy band's main heartthrob said -- or, technically, didn't speak -- a couple of weeks ago. Pop's rumor mill has been churning out speculation that Harry Styles might be attracted to both genders, or perhaps even lgbtq+, for a while now. So far, the 20-year-old has resisted firmly confirming or denying those rumors ("I'm pretty sure I'm not [bisexual]" kind of swings both ways), but lately he's been putting a bolder spin on his ambiguity. I wouldn't be surprised if some night soon he turns up onstage draped in a rainbow flag.

During a recent interview, Styles and bandmate Liam Payne were asked what they stare for in a potential partner. "Female; that's an important trait," Payne replied.

"Not that important," Styles interjected.

What does Styles look for, then? "Someone who's nice," he said. "You're not gonna go out with a

Lance Bass on One Direction: ‘My Suppose Is One of Them Is Gay’

Lance Bass is generally an uncontroversial person (aside from that whole space field trip he wanted to take), but he's found himself embroiled in a bit of controversy after he offered his opinion of One Direction's sexuality.

The former 'N Sync member was on 'The Rubin Report,' to discuss the big news of NBA player, Jason Collins coming out this week. The conversation quickly turned about Lance Bass coming out himself in 2006 and the probability of one of the members of One Direction existence gay himself. Bass said,

"Well, statistically speaking, one probably is. It’s crazy with a market fancy that because 100 percent is fresh women. And they fantasize about these guys, and then you have the write down label and everyone grooming you to make sure that you don’t even mention you own a girlfriend. So screw the fact that you’re gonna show up out as existence gay. It ruins their whole business plan."

The man has a very valid point, whether Directioners like it or not, that even if one of the 1D guys is gay, he may feel compelled to hide it eve

Drugs, meltdowns and 'gay sex' rumours - how 'rivalry and hatred' tore One Direction apart

On what would have been One Direction's nine-year anniversary, we get a look support at the rows and battles that broke them

This time nine years ago, five teenage boys' dreams were in tatters after being rejected from the X Factor .

But determined not to let a good-looking gang travel to waste, exhibit boss Simon Cowell and his genius decided to place solo hopefuls Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson together.

It took the lads just five minutes to agree to his plan and possess another crack at the competition - this time in the groups category.

They would go on to be one of the most successful boybands of the century, selling out stadiums and dominating the charts for five years before splitting in an explosion of bitterness and animosity.

But with no encounter of harmonies, organization singing or even each other, even then Liam wondered what they were really getting into.

Spice Girls' Wannabe's filthy lyrics revealed and GROSS meaning behind 'zi

What if, in 2012, one of the One Direction boys decided to tell the world he was gay? Would his umpteen million devoted female fans hold the news OK? That is the question I asked Lance Bass during an interview on my SiriusXM show, The Six Pack.

"I actually think they would," Bass said, without hesitating. "The younger generation is way smarter than we were. They're way more perceptive, and they just don't care. ... Endorse then there was no way in hell I would arrive out."

These are bold words coming from Bass, practically the founding father of the yes-I'm-gay pop-star narrative. Bass is a veteran of the boy-band machine, which has experienced a major resurgence since the rise of the UK's One Direction and The Wanted. In 2006, four years after *NSYNC announced its plans to go on hiatus, he finally came out publicly, appearing on the cover of People Magazine with the headline "I'M GAY."

Have minds and perceptions really changed as quickly as Bass believes? If 1D's Harry or Zayn or Louis or Niall or Liam (did I forget any?) were actually to come out, would they be welcomed with open arms, both by their fans and the industry they've revitalized?
