Are gays evil
Many Christians have misread the Biblical tale of Lot

Sometimes we hear the word sodomite levelled in negative terms at homosexual and bisexual people. To be a sodomite is, for sure, deemed to be perverse, sick and evil as far as the Bible is concerned (and according to the Torah and Qur’an too). So, what is a sodomite? What is the sin of Sodom?
In Genesis, the opening book of the Bible, we peruse in Chapter 19 how Lot, a nephew of Abraham, receives guests, said to be two new beautiful angels (more of them later), who he gives the traditional hospitality to as he would to any strangers. Then…
Genesis 19:4-5
“Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both vintage and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. 5 And they called to Lot and said to him, ‘Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.’”
To know them carnally is, of course, a euphemism for having sex with them. The mob of men wanted to rape them!
The attempted rape continues as they experiment to force their way into Lot’s house
And they said, “Stand back!” The The old dude then responds just as Lot did, saying in verses 23 and 24, “No, my friends, don’t be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don’t complete this outrageous thing. Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will deliver them out to you now, and you can apply them and act to them whatever you wish. But as for this man, don’t accomplish such an outrageous thing.” Unfortunately, with no angels present this time to halt the attack, the men in Gibeah are able to carry out their plans. Verse 25 horrifyingly tells us that “the male took his concubine and sent her outside to them, and they raped her and abused her throughout the night, and at dawn they permit her go.” But she didn’t endure the brutal sexual violence. As the next verses interpret, in the morning, the Levite set up her lying expired in the doorway. This is among the most horrific stories in the Aged Testament, and it’s impossible to examine it without feeling sick to your stomach. But as gruesome and disturbing as it is, it provides us with a transparent picture of what the men of Sodom had in mind when they said they wanted to “have sex” with Lot’s guests. The men of Gibeah make the ex Answer This article is part of the Tough Passages series. 24Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. 26For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with love for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.29They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,30slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of bad, disobedient to parents,31foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.32Though they know God’s righteousWas Homosexuality the Sin of Sodom and Gomorrah?
Is being gay a sin?
In order to answer the doubt “Is being same-sex attracted a sin?” we need to test some assumptions upon which the ask is based. Within the past fifty years, the word gay, as applied to homosexuality, has exploded into mainstream culture, and we are told that “being gay” is as much outside one’s control as “being short” or having blonde hair. So the doubt is worded in a loaded way and impossible to adequately answer in that form. We need to crack this question up and deal with each piece separately. Rather than request, “Is being lgbtq+ a sin?” we need to question , “Is it sinful to have homosexual attractions?” And, “Is it sinful to engage in lesbian activities because of those attractions?”
Concerning the first question, “Is it sinful to have same-sex attractions?” the answer is complicated. First, we should probably distinguish between (actively) sinning and (passively) entity tempted:
Being temptedis not a sin. Jesus was tempted, but He never sinned (Matthew 4:1; Hebrews 4:15). Eve was tempted in the garden, and the forbidden fruit definitely appealed to her, but it seems that she did not actually sin until she took the fruit and ate it (Genesis 3:6&n
